Community Support Services, Inc. is a private corporation which was formed in 1990 to provide services and supports to people with developmental disabilities. It was originally formed to meet the needs of individuals through private contracts with families of individuals or individuals themselves. In 1995 our agency began contracting with the Community Center Boards when privately served individuals were able to receive government funding for services. This resulted in growth in what is now called Supported Living Services. With much encouragement from the community, in 1998 our agency expanded into Comprehensive Services. Comprehensive Services includes the Host Home Program, Residential Apartment Program, Integrated Activity Services, and Integrated Employment Services. We currently provide all of the above services.
The owner of the company, Jayne Tschirhart-Short, began her career supporting people with developmental disabilities in 1981. Her experience includes Direct Care, Middle Management, Qualified Mental Retardation Professional (QMRP), and Program Director. She was also the Executive Director of a local organization for thirteen years. It was during her Executive Directorship that she and her husband, Gerald Short, created Community Support services, Inc. Jayne Tschirhart-Short is joined by a seasoned Administrative Team whom combined bring over ninety years of experience supporting people with developmental disabilities. The majority of the Administrative Team has been aboard since 1998 working in close collaboration with Jayne Tschirhart-Short.
Our agency is made up of the People we support, our direct care Community Support Specialists, our Host Home Providers, our Program Managers, our Office Staff, and our Administrative Team. We pride ourselves in the longevity and minimum turnover of our Host Home Providers and our Staff. We carefully select our Staff and Host Home Providers who share a commitment in providing quality services to the People we support.
